Elephants to see film <<< Khan Kluay >>>

ENTERTAINMENT :Kantana Group Plc, the producer of Khan Kluay, a 3D animation film about an orphaned elephant of the same name, will show the film to a special audience - elephants and mahouts in Ayutthaya province.
About 100 elephants, together with mahouts, will be treated to the showing, which is to take place in an open-air elephant shelter on the evening of June 8.
The 150 million baht film aims to show how an elephant can serve the country and the king, the firm said. The film begins with Khan Kluay as a young elephant before it becomes the royal steed of King Naresuan of Ayutthaya in his historic duel against Phra Maha Uparacha of the Burmese army.
Subway fares to go up

TRANSPORT :Subway fares will be hiked again next month in line with the consumer price index, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) said yesterday.
According to acting MRTA governor Yiamchai Chatkaew, the fares will be raised from 14-36 baht to 15-39 baht depending on the distance.
The new fare price structure will be submitted to the cabinet for approval before it takes effect on July 3. The concession contract allows Bangkok Metro Plc to raise fares every two years.
Greater risks for villagers

HEALTH :Residents of two areas in Ubon Ratchathani face a greater risk of paralysis and semi-paralysis than others in the country, according to a recent health report.
Attapong Treepanya, an expert in traditional medicine, said the villagers in Khong Chiam district and Na Tan sub-district were more at risk of suffering from the ailments due to overwork and unhealthy eating habits.
Demarcation on schedule

BORDERS :Border demarcation between Thailand and Malaysia is likely to be finalised on schedule, Supreme Commander Gen Ruengroj Mahasaranont said yesterday.
The marking of the 90km Thai-Malaysian border along the Kolok river is almost half done, he said after the 23rd meeting of the joint committee on border demarcation in Ayutthaya.

He said that border demarcation has been affected by southern violence but is likely to be completed on schedule. He did not say what the schedule was.
